Vector Illustration Technique: Big Interior

This is a copy of an animation background from Dreamworlds. As I mentioned in my previous post, building backgrounds in Illustrator isn't as intuitive as Photoshop painting or traditional drawing. I've found that it's helpful to practice in Illustrator when the end product is going to be vector.

Also, after copying a couple of these, you will start to get a feel for the minimum amount of shapes that it takes to achieve the animation background look.

You can see the basic shapes that I've laid down in the first pic. Then in the second pic I'm laying  down as few colors as possible to accurately copy what I see using mostly gradients. I don't need to take this any further since it's just a copy, but I like this secondary color scheme and I may use it again in the future.
